Some Windows Tips

1)'vnetbios.vxd',.............. not found?(Windows 98)

While installing Windows 98 from the disk,it skips certain files which it ask for after the installation has been completed .It gives a box and finds for 98 disk.Sometimes we cancel the box by clicking on 'Cancel' tab. Then this problem appears. Now what we have to do is insert the 98 installation disk into the drive.Browse the cd and open the 'win98' folder. There will be a cab(zip) file named 'Net9'.Open the cab and extract the files to a location on the disk. Now you will get the desired file from the extracted files. Now copy this file and paste it in the drive containing window 98 like c:/,d:/,etc.

NOTE:Please note that copy the file in the drive not in any of the folder.

2)Virus in the 'Explorer' file.(Windows XP)

Sometimes our computer gets infected by the virus which resides in the 'Explorer' file in the Windows folder.Result of this is that when we start our pc the virus spreads into our computer as Explorer file loads into the memory during startup. Now solution to this problem is that starts ur computer in 'safemode' then go to the windows folder,'explorer' will be present there and what u have to do is cut that explorer file and paste it in the other drive. Now reboot ur computer in normal mode and u will find there is no virus in the explorer file.

NOTE:After cutting the explorer file if the 'Windows File Protection' dialog box appears then insert the windows(which u r using) cd and it will do its work.

3)Virus in any main window file.(Windows XP)

Sometimes the main windows file gets infected by the a certain virus. Now what u have to do is identify the file infected and then end its process(if any). Then cut the file from that place and paste it on other drive or just delete it if the previous method doesn't work.'Windows File Protection' dialoge box will open and ask for the windows xp installation disk. Now insert the disk and the file which is deleted will be replaced with the new one.

NOTE:these tricks works for me and I m not sure that it will work rightly for u.I advice u to perform these tips on ur own risk.I will not be responsible for any damage to ur pc.

Windows Vista cracking!!!! Is it possible???

Today piracy is the greatest problem for Software Vendors.Software pirates began looking for ways to prey on Windows Vista long before its launch.Microsoft may have outsmarted them for the time being, but the pirates are persevering in their efforts. In this post we will come to know about the various techniques used by the hackers to crack the Windows Vista’s copy protection.

NOTE:The cracks that are to be discussed in this post are only meant for informative purpose and should not be used under any circumstances.People using this information for illegal purposes can land up being penalized under the anti-piracy laws.

The Frankenstein Build:

This strike came long before the launch of Windows Vista when it was in the Beta stage.Since this Vista was protected by the XP-era WGA scheme, cracking it was not a tough job for the pirates. However in the final release the protection was made far superior and uncrackable. The pirates tried to incorporate the cracked beta test routine into the final Vista version. This didn’t hold for very long, simply because even after doing this ,Windows update would recognize Vista as a beta version. So this technique was outsmarted by Microsoft.

Timestop:
Very simple and effective method in which it simply stopped the operating system from counting down the 30-day activation period, effectively allowing one to use it without ever activating it.Unfortunately, the Timestop had a slight flaw.It didn’t allow Vista to be updated and Vista does not work without security updates.

Rearm:
Designed to help system administrators who have to deal with hundreds of machines at once, this one also extends the 30-day period.Unfortunately since it’s an official command,it is of limited use.It can only be used four times,so once 120 days are up,Vista refuses to extend the period any further.

KMS Server:
An acronym for Key Management Service,KMS is software offered to corporate clients. This was intended to work hand-in-hand with Microsoft’s ‘Volume Activation 2.0’ scheme for business and enterprise-level customers.KMS eliminates the need for each individual computer to connect directly to Microsoft for authentication, acting as an activation proxy that enables or activates all other workstations. If Microsoft decides to get tough on this workaroud,it could refuse to activate all KMSes,meaning that even genuine clients would not be able to use it anymore.

Key Generators:
Key generators simply create random serial numbers and activation keys from their database that matchWindows Vista’s genuine keys.Fortunately for Microsoft, generating keys is no child’s play, and it takes quite a while to produce a combination that will work. And besides, the application’s database has a limited number of keys which is easily outclassed by Microsoft’s database of genuine keys. But the biggest downside is that while the key might work on a local machine,it also needs to be verified online with Microsoft.

OEM-BIOS:
Major computer manufacturers can pre-activate thousands of computers at a time by placing a special marker in the machines BIOSes.It has been proved that replacing your BIOS with one from one of these manufacturers will allow you to install Vista on any machine without needing to activate it.Microsoft has so far avoided persuing hackers who modify their BIOSes,simply because the effort and risk involved are enough to deter people.Besides, this isn’t a method that can easily be duplicated across a large number of machines.

Paradox:
Paradox is named after the hacker group that came up with this one.It is simply a driver that one can install under Vista that intercepts the identification requesta to the BIOS.It simulates a real OEM BIOS so you don’t have to mess with any hardware.Since it has brrn identified,it most probably won’t work for vey long.

Vista Loader:
Now this one is a boot loader that works much like the Paradox driver.A special boot manager emulates the entire BIOS,which reports to Vista that it is installing on an OEM computer. In the case of this hack too,it’s just a matter of time until Microsoft identifies and disables the software.

Though software pirates have managed to find or create work-arounds to activate Vista illegitimately,Microsoft is keeping a stringent check on Vista activation. The real question is whether the hackers or code crackers will be persistent or not. We’ll have to wait and watch.

Google As A Hacking Tool

Hello guys in this blog we will come in touch with some of the basic things that we can do using our favourite search engine Google.Using certain search strings we can find a lot more than our requirements. We often heard about that the hackers are used to search in Google to gain access to certain files they shouldn't be allowed to see or have access to.

NOTE:As this article is meant for educational purpose only so the tips provided in this article should not be used to harm anyone.

Google Search Options:

Specific file types: *.xls, *.doc, *.pdf *.ps *.ppt *.rtf

Google allows us to search for specific file types, so instead of getting html-files as a result (websites) we get files related to the filetypes that we had specified in search string. The search string we would use would be this:

Filetype:xls (for excel files) or filetype:doc for word files.

Here we can use different filetypes as per our needs. But maybe more interesting would be searching for *.db files and *.mdb files.Try and think of something that might get you some interesting results.

Inurl

Another useful search option is the inurl: option which allows one to search for a certain word one would want to be in the url. This gives us the opportunity to search for specific directories/folders,
especially in combination with the “index of” option.

An example would be inurl:admin which would gives us results of website urls that have the word “admin” in the url.

Index of

The “index of” option is another option that isn’t especially thought of by the creators of google, but comes in very handy. If we use the “index of” string we will find directory listings of specific folders on servers.

An example could be ‘index of” admin or index.of.admin which would give us many directory listings of admin folders.

Site

The site option allows us to come up with results that only belong to a certain domain name extension or to a specific site. For example one could search for .com sites or .box.sk sites or .nl sites, but also for results from just one site, but more interesting might be to search for specific military or government websites.

An example of a search string would be Site:mil or site:gov Site:neworder.box.sk “board”

Intitle

Intitle is another nice option. It allows us to search for html files that have a certain word or words in the title. The format would be intitle:wordhere. We could check out what words appear in the title of some online control panel or content management system and then search google for this word with the intitle option, to find these control panel pages.

Link

The Link option allows us to check which sites link to a specific site.

Combining search options

The above mentioned search options might or might not be known to you, but even though they can amount to some interesting results, it’s a fact that when you start combining them, that’s when
google’s magic starts to show.So its upto yours minds imagination or experimental capabilities to test out these things.
